Seven Summits

For those of you who, like me, are always tempted to just put on the hiking shoes and throw on the already packed backpack that is sitting next to your bed…(this is actually true!) you may have heard of a concept called Seven Summits. These are the 7 highest mountains on the seven continents of the globe.
There is a website about them.

They are Kilimanjaro, Denali, Elbrus, Aconcagua, Carstensz Pyramid, Vinson & Everest.

Last month I read a book by the first guy who climbed all seven, he did it in a year.
It’s an old book but a fun read if you are into this stuff.

I went along to hear Lincoln Hall speak at UWA on Wed night with Casey. Hall was the guy who was left dead on Everest last year and came alive again a few hours later and was pulled off the mountain.

I read his book, White Limbo when I had just finished year 12.

Now he has a new one, Dead Lucky about last years experience on ‘the hill’.

  1. Flying out of Nairobi airport, we got over the clouds and as I looked around I saw a rock sticking out of the clouds. I figured it was Kilaminjaro.
I guess that’s the closest I’ll come to seeing the top of it.
Also, I met a Nepalese guy on Friday. First person from Nepal I’ve ever met.
