You can’t miss Dick, he just puts it out there, he is a battler and stands for what he believes in.
Entrepreneur and adventurer
They made only one Dick Smith. That common or garden name now attaches to one of Australia’s best-known faces, a living, breathing brand pasted over biscuit packets and jam jars who is as well-known for flying where no one else dares and, latterly, for popping up on the TV advocating better treatment for refugees. The dyslexic kid who was good with radios, made his millions in electronics and has used his brand recognition to influence the way Australians think about their place in both the physical and the commercial worlds. He began the Australian Geographic journal in 1986, and established Dick Smith Foods in 1999 as a crusade against foreign ownership of Australian food producers.
