There has been some controversy over the fact that singer/songwriters Derek Webb and Dan Haseltine (of Jars of Clay) are going to be two of the speakers at the One Table, Many Voices campaign: a mobilization to overcome poverty and hunger. Some of the speakers include recognizable names like Brian McLaren, Jim Wallis, and Bart Compollo, but there are some non-Christians too like Bhante Dhammasiri (a Buddhist leader), and some politicians like former Senator John Edwards.

Great to see …
I knew that Christ gave us a mandate to feed the poor, orphans and widows, but until this week in my studies of Deuteronomy I didn’t realise how much of an emphasis even in the OT God places on social welfare.
I’m really challenged on how much my heart isn’t like God’s in this area, sure I work out on the mission field, but my I got so much to learn … and so much to give away!!
